Psychoanalysts

Jan Bauer, M. A.

Biography

Jan Bauer was born and raised in the USA. She studied at the Sorbonne (license, diplôme d’études supérieures 1967) , and at Boston University (M.Ed. 1973) . She taught high school level in France and Tunisia and Boston. In 1981 she received her diploma from the C.G. Institute in Zurich. She has had a private practice as a Jungian analyst in Quebec since 1983. She is also a lecturer at the University of Montreal and Director of Training for the InterRegional Society of Jungian Analysts. She is presently president of the Association of Jungian Analysts of Quebec.

Some of the Jungian concepts that particularly inspire Jan are the idea of individuation`’, becoming truly oneself – and the integration of the shadow, that part of ourselves that we reject but that can expand our lives if we have the willingness to let it enter our consciousness. Ms. Bauer believes that one of the goals of analysis is to establish a `democracy` of the psyche – letting all our different parts have a voice in the way we live our lives. Myths and dreams are two especially helpful ways to heed these voices.
